* What is a DENIER?
A DENIER is the unit of measurement for the thickness of the yarn used to make stockings and pantyhose.
The lower the denier number—8, 10, 15, 20, etc.—the thinner and more transparent the stockings or pantyhose are. Conversely, the higher the number—40, 70, etc.—the thicker they are and the less skin shows through.
There are also opaque microfiber stockings and pantyhose in 50 and 100 den, which barely reveal the skin. They are commonly worn in autumn and winter.
Stockings and pantyhose with a low denier count are normally worn during the spring and summer seasons. They can be worn at any other time of the year, for example at ceremonies, as their fineness makes them look more elegant.
