* What is a DENIER?
A DENIER is the unit of measurement for the thickness of the yarn used to make stockings and tights.
The lower the denier number—8, 10, 15, 20, etc.—the thinner and more transparent the stockings or tights are. Conversely, the higher the number—40, 70, etc.—the thicker they are and the less skin shows through.
There are also opaque microfiber stockings and tights in 50 and 100 den, which barely reveal the skin. They are commonly worn in autumn and winter.
Stockings and tights with a low denier number are normally worn during the spring-summer season. They can be worn at any other time of the year, for example at ceremonies, as their fineness makes them look more elegant.
